photo in the style of Perou

I took this picture in London looking up at the London eye. I edited it in the style of one of Perous black and white photographs because I really liked the effect as it made the image stand out a lot more. Perous photo is of a building but it still has the same contrast of colours like I have in mine, which I used Photoshop to edit. Also mine is taken at a low angle in comparison to Perous which id taken looking down on the building.
Below is the picture I based mine on:

I acctually took this picture looking out the back of my friends car on the motorway between London and Norwich. I liked the effect the lights created at night, and how you can see all the lights in a line going as far back as you can see. I based on the picture Perou took on the motorway, except he took his during the day so it looks brighter and the lights create a different effect. I like the mist in his photograph and how the lights are in a spiral kind of pattern as they fade out in the distance. I could of improved mine by taking it from a different angle so you can see more cars, that would create the kind of spiraly pattern like Perou did with the lights.
Below is the picture I based it one:

I took this photo near my house, on a hill looking through some branches. I based it on one of Perous pictures  of what I think are reeds, which have the same effect as I added to this image. I edited the photograph using Photoshop to create the contrast in colours between the black and white which I think Perou did too. The difference between the 2 photographs is that his is simpler whereas you can see all the little details of the branches in mine.
Below is the picture I based it on:

I took this photo in the city in Norwich because i thought the graffiti and area looked similar to one of Perou's pictures that i liked. I have taken it from the other side of the street, like he did although the colours are different on my picture as they are whites and reds whereas on his they are greens and blacks and I have centered the graffiti more but Perou has put it at the bottom of the screen showing more background.
I liked his picture because it was very simple and showed what you really see in a city not just an edited version.
Below is the picture I thought I based my picture on:

A summery of Perou

  • Style: Perou doesnt have a specific style, there is a great range in his photographs, most of them are portraits, that are more basic compared to his more detailed work.
  • Style: He contrast the colours a lot, and sometimes he uses simple backgrounds to draw your attention to the point of interest(usually the person), others he makes the background very detailed creating a very effective but different effect.
  • Technique: his photos are all taken at different angles, some are taken far away so you can see the background which can draw your attention to the point of interest which is usually the main object, and others are taken close up so all you can see is the main object/person.
  •  Narrative: In all his pictures, the person, has a really interesting expression or is doing something to make you interested in the image. It makes you wonder what the person is really doing.
  • Narrative: Perou expects you to look into the picture and look behind what you are being shown to work out what it means, there is a lot of hidden detail in his photos you don't notice at first.
  • Context: Perou takes photos of a lot of things, but most of his pictures are portraits, often of celebrities such as Peaches Geldof, Lily Allen, Justin Timberlake, Jessie J and lots more.
